I phoned up and spoke to Terry one night well I was sat trying to write a
letter to him and I was finding it very difficult so I thought right I'll
phone him me being me doing things spur of the moment and I phoned him and
Babs answered although I didn't know it was Babs at the time pause and said
hi can I speak to Terrance and she said yep and didn't ask who it was but
we were talking about it the other day when we found out I was doing this
she said she knew who it was because I'd asked for Terrance pause rather than
Terry and erm she handed the phone to him and all I could here was I think
you better take it in the kitchen pause and he just looked at her and the
walked out and its her so and he erm said hello I said hi I said its Amy and
he said I think I better sit down before I have a heart attack and it was
from that moment we got on so I went down a couple of weeks after that phone
call but I mean Hannah I think then resented the fact that they'd never been
told about me I think that's what upset them it wasn't the fact they had another
sister cause they've already got a younger half sister it was the fact they've
never been told Right pause But we all get on great I'm just part of the big
family no So how did you get from living in Newcastle to living with them?
Well I lived in Leeds first with my parents then I met Colin he's my current
partner and I moved up to Newcastle to live with him and we had a son James
and that's what really made me feel as though I wanted to find them when I
found out I was pregnant cause they ask you all list of questions does this
run in the family does that run in the family and I don't know I don't know
I don't know so that's what really drummed it home that I wanted to find out
and then pause so Colin and me had James and then 3 months ago I found out
I was pregnant again laughs and Colin and I had been going though a lot of
problems I'd had post natal depression and we if we'd stayed in the same house
we'd have killed each other Right So I've moved down there I've moved away
and hopefully we can sort things out and maybe one day try living together
again but not at the moment that's why I've ended up down there Right Um Rather
than go back to your home Well I don't get on with my adoptive dad very well
he's got my parents have split up and he's got a new girlfriend and she's
got kids and he puts them before us which I don't think's very fair so and
we've had numerous arguments on the subject and mum's lived on her own for
so long I mean she's got a boyfriend now but its those two and the dog and
I spoke to her about it and said what do your think she turned round and said
to be honest I think you'd be better down there you'd get more support down
there I'll give you all the support I can but I go out and I'm at work nearly
every day and erm I've got my own interests on an evening and she said you
enjoy being with them and it'd be good for you to get to know them and mum
feels very secure in the fact that she's my mum and nobody can ever take her
away from me I mean her and Terry have met several times but they met for
the first time and my mum just turned round and said its just a shame we didn't
know each other for Amy's 21st cause you could have come out with us and Terry
was just gob smacked because he couldn't understand how she could be so laid
back meeting the man who was by birth father and she just wasn't threatened
at all pause Sounds like she must be a very strong person Yeah To be able
to do that Yeah she is very strong and she's helped me a lot with finding
my parents So how did you get Terry to meet Well I went down on the Thursday
to meet Terry my mum had got James for the day and then Terry turned round
and said oh you can stay for the night if you want and I said well I can't
really cause I can't leave James with my mum he said that's alright we'll
go and get James then you can both stay and we can meet James so I phoned
up and checked it was alright and mum said yeah that's fine so we went and
we got him and they met laughs my brother met them for the first time a few
weeks ago he was more unsure about it but I think that's because when we went
the first time to get James it was me Terry, Babs and Andrew cause Andrew's
Bev's son so he's my step brother but Allan didn't know that and he was thinking
oh Amy's got another brother she wont want me anymore.
